Winter Sports Action

Well it is that time of year here in Middle Georgia!

Winter sports has started.  FPD & MDS have already had swimming meets.  FPD had their 6 & 7th grade boys and girls teams playing last night in the Zack.  Gatewood School traveled down to Macon from Eatonton.  The girls game came down to the final shot as Gateway took a shot at the buzzer to try and tie the game but it fell short and FPD girls won by 2 points in their home opener.  Boys game FPD ran away with it early as they also won their home opener.  Should be a fun season to photograph and watch this year.

FPD 8th and JV basketball tips off December 2nd & 3rd this year.  Varsity begins play also on December 3rd as they travel to Fairburn, GA to play Landmark Christian school.

MDS Varsity basketball tips off next Tuesday November 26th at Trinity Christian-Dublin.  Both Boys Varsity and JV teams are schedule to play.  The Varsity Girls team will tip off on Monday November 25th at Stratford Academy, then the following week the JV team will begin play on December 5th at MDS vs Griffin Christian.

Wrestling teams for both school will be starting up next month also.  Should be a great season for both schools this year.  Looking forward to taking action pictures and posting them online at www.abphotos.com/photocart

Here are a couple from last night’s game for FPD.

We were honored to photograph the Induction Ceremony for the Cavalier  Sports Hall of Fame.  Check out the event here!

The Cavalier Sports Hall of Fame has been established to recognize and permanently record the exceptional achievements of Cavalier athletes and supporters. The Hall of Fame honors those individuals who have had a significant impact on the school’s long history of interscholastic competition. As athletes, coaches, administrators, and contributors to the development of the Mount de Sales athletic program, their accomplishments have brought pride and distinction to our school and community.

The Hall of Fame provides a link between past and current generations of student-athletes and encourages current student-athletes to embrace the many opportunities available to them through team work, determination, and dedication.

Through more than a century of athletic participation, a lasting competitive spirit and sense of fair play have led to great success on the playing fields. Mount de Sales graduates proudly boast that “It’s great to be a Cavalier!”

FPD Lady Vikings win GHSA State Championship – Macon School Photographer

FPD won the GHSA girls soccer state championship over Paideia. The 3-2 home victory gave FPD their first GHSA state championship in any sport.
FPD built a 2-0 lead in the match on a pair of goals from senior striker Rebecca Miller. Junior Melissa Hash assisted both goals.
The Vikings defense had only allowed 1 goal to a GHSA team this season and the lead was an important one.
Paideia would answer with 2 consecutive goals during a 10-minute stretch to tie the game at 2-2. Sophomore Atalia Ramirez one touched a Paideia defelection into the upper corner of the goal with less than 3 minutes left to put FPD up 3-2.
The left-footed shot from 25 yards out was one of the true highlights of the 2011 season. FPD held the lead for the final few minutes and won the match 3-2. FPD was undefeated in GHSA play and finished with a record of 21-1.
The total goals allowed this season (5) sets a school record. The girls also set a record with 140 goals scored.
